Overview
The Management Accountant forms part of the Financial Control team within the wider Dental Finance function. The role is to provide consistent and accurate information in respect of all P&L items. To be proactively involved in developing and improving the reporting and service given to the functional directorates, budget owners and business partners, to ensure that P&L items are thoroughly understood and tightly controlled. To challenge the relevant budget holders in relation to their P&L's and productivity levels and ensure sharing of best practice and initiatives across both own area of responsibility and those of other team members.
Responsibilities
* Support the Senior Management Accountants in the provision of consistent and accurate information and variance analysis to the business with respect to all P&L items from Revenue to Underlying Profit.
* Ensure that all P&L items are accurately captured in the entity, nominal and cost centre.
* Work closely with the Senior Management Accountants to ensure that the end to end reporting cycle is completed, reported and reconciled in line with month end timelines.
* Support with the completion of reconciliations and produce monthly reports to the functional directorates, operational leads and senior managers to strict deadlines. Highlight and explain material variances between actuals, reforecast and AOP.
* Provide sufficient information for recharges to enable receivers to make informed decisions about the costs they are accountable for.
* At year end and half-year end report on all significant accruals in relation to cost base and provide supporting evidence and explanations to financial accounts and external auditors.
* Proactively seek process improvements to improve the accuracy and efficiency of month end processes to meet deadlines.
* Support the Senior Management Accountants with the completion and submission of Plan for Support Centre Costs.
* Ensure all reporting is in line with accounting standards and principles and appropriate back up is maintained.
* Validate balances in respect of accruals, prepayments, provisions and related charges with full supporting documentation, escalating queries as needed.
* Ad hoc work as appropriate.
Qualifications
* The successful candidate is likely to be part qualified or newly qualified in a professional qualification - ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA.

* Proven ability to work under pressure and meet stretching and tight deadlines.
* Finance experience with a strong grasp of double entry is necessary for success in the role.
* Must be analytically and numerically minded.
* Advanced PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and accountancy software (Oracle preferred).
* Excellent customer service skills, including communication, managing expectations, providing recommendations, and ensuring quality of outputs.
* The job holder will be expected to proactively build and maintain relationships with customers throughout the Company.
* Quick to learn and responsive to the needs of the business.
* Proactive with a "+can do" approach.
* The successful candidate will have good commercial skills and the ability to adapt to a new environment quickly.
