As a Lead Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team that designs, develops, configures, and verifies HVDC Control & Protection Systems. You will drive consistent design practices, establish common global processes for project implementation, and provide technical solutions that meet project objectives.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer to expand their project management skills and personal development within an international project organization delivering complex HVDC systems.
Our Lead Project Engineers are essential for the successful execution of our projects. They provide technical leadership to other engineers and customer-facing teams, overseeing each phase of project delivery to ensure valuable system solutions with operational rigor.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers specializing in control and protection systems, automation, HV & LV power systems, and verification & validation, ensuring solutions meet customer, contractual, quality, and regulatory requirements.
2. Provide technical leadership, advice, and assistance to the project team, including Tendering, Commissioning, Service, and third parties.
3. Support the Project (Engineering) Manager and deputize for them when needed.
4. Plan and manage all design engineering activities, including testing and commissioning.
5. Monitor and control engineering budgets, project documentation, risk management, design reviews, and quality & change control systems according to company guidelines.
6. Support improvement initiatives and cost-reduction plans in collaboration with other business units.
7. Act as the primary technical and project interface with stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, NPI, and Product Care.
8. Ensure activities are executed efficiently and cost-effectively, adhering to contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
9. Manage and lead the team to successfully execute projects within schedule, budget, and contractual obligations.
10. Lead and motivate a team of technical personnel.
11. Take responsibility for control & protection, automation of HVDC solutions, and problem-solving.
12. Engage in daily interactions with various functions to facilitate collaboration and ongoing competency development.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Experience in engineering and project leadership environments.
* Experience in application engineering in controls, protection, automation, HVDC, and grid-connected systems.
* Experience in HVDC project execution or similar complex projects.
* Design and system integration experience on multidisciplinary projects.
* Knowledge of control & protection systems for HV & LV systems.
* Proven ability to lead large teams and add value beyond basic responsibilities.
* Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
* Customer-focused mindset with experience translating customer needs into solutions.
Qualifications:
* Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent with industry experience.
* Significant experience in control & protection systems and advanced problem-solving skills.
* Ability to manage organizational risks and work under pressure.
* Proven leadership and technical management skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Willingness to travel globally and flexibility with working hours.
