This is a key role working as part of our professional Security team taking responsibility for delivering proactive and effective prevention activities and emergency response in order to maintain a safe and secure environment for our staff, visitors, contractors, living collection and assets both by day and night. As a Security Officer you will: Maintain the highest level of security at the zoo delivering proactive and effective prevention activities and emergency response Conduct effective security tasks including surveillance, people searches, foot and mobile patrols during the day and night Support the Security Supervisory & Management team ensuring that regular reviews of security vulnerabilities are identified and highlighted, addressed or suitably mitigated Demonstrate a high level of competency in the use of all security systems to maximise their operational benefit The Package Permanent contract Average of 42 hours per week, working 8 days out of 16 on a rota basis (including day and night shifts) 33 days annual leave pro rata to days worked (equivalent to 23 days per annum) Salary of 28,672.35 per annum (Band G) Staff pass so you can visit the zoo during your time off, plus multiple complimentary tickets for your friends and family Cycle to work scheme Healthcare plan and employee assistance programme Discounted gym membership Discounts on cinema tickets, restaurants, high street shops and more via Perks Pension scheme with generous employer contributions up to 9% Our Requirements Previous experience in a similar role Exceptional customer service skills Full driving licence SIA front line door supervisor licence Although not essential, the following would be desirable: SIA public space CCTV licence First Aid at Work qualification What makes Chester Zoo a great place to work?
