Astute's Nuclear team is partnering with a leading nuclear sector contractor to recruit a Senior Estimator for a major nuclear decommissioning project in Seascale. Responsibilities and duties of the Senior Estimator position
Reporting to the Head of Bid Management you will:
Ensure compliance with company governance and bidding procedures at all times.
Collaborate with Bid and Design Managers to develop competitive pricing and cost-effective design solutions.
Prepare and agree methodologies, outputs, and estimates for labour, plant, materials, subcontracts, and temporary works.
Develop and maintain local rates, build-up rates, and scheme-specific calculations for pricing.
Liaise with procurement to evaluate and select suppliers and subcontractors for tenders.
Plan and agree staffing levels, shift patterns, and overtime in line with regulations and project requirements.
Coordinate preliminaries, client requirements, and risk inputs to support tender preparation.
Compile pricing summaries, adjustment sheets, and final tender documentation for submission.
Support post-submission activities, including clarifications, amendments, and handover to project teams.
Review tender outcomes and feedback to inform future bids and continuous improvement.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Relevant civil engineering or construction qualifications
Significant experience in estimating for large-scale construction or nuclear projects
Sound knowledge of procurement legislation, forms of contract, and commercial awareness
Proficiency with estimating software packages
Personal skills
