A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join a highly regarded engineering consultancy in Glasgow, specialising in quarry, rock mechanics, and heavy civil engineering projects across the UK. This position is ideal for an experienced Chartered Geologist or Chartered Civil Engineer looking to take the next step into a senior leadership role within a technically focused and growing team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering complex geotechnical and rock engineering projects, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting the continued growth of the business. The role offers a strong pipeline of quarry and rock slope projects alongside excellent progression towards senior management and technical leadership.
The Role
Leading geotechnical and rock engineering projects from feasibility through to completion
Providing technical input on quarry developments, slope stability, excavations, and rock mechanics assessments
Managing ground investigations and geotechnical design packages
Undertaking and reviewing geotechnical risk assessments and interpretative reports
Client liaison and development of long-term relationships
Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and engineering geologists
Supporting business development and project tenders
Conducting site visits and inspections across quarry and infrastructure projects
Requirements
Chartered Geologist (CGeol) or Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng)
Strong background in geotechnical engineering and rock mechanics
Experience working on quarry, mining, or large earthworks projects
Excellent report writing and technical review skills
Proven project management and client-facing experience
Strong understanding of slope stability and rock mass behaviour
Full UK driving licence
