What To Expect
Define and lead all Materiality activities for Commodity Strategy, collaborating with key stakeholders to align with business goals and enhance client experiences, supporting our Reimagine strategy.
The Role
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Commodity Strategy across all JLR brands, providing strategic and creative direction.
* Connect Design Research & Innovation with other enterprise areas and external R&D organizations.
* Establish partnerships with research counterparts; identify advanced research for sustainable, circular materials for vehicle interiors and exteriors.
* Manage all Materiality activities for Commodity Strategy projects, ensuring agile, timely delivery.
* Collaborate with Materiality Design Senior Managers to deliver innovation and strategies.
* Support Design Academy training to develop talent in Materiality Design.
* Recruit and build capabilities within the team.
* Lead multiple strategic projects, balancing business priorities.
* Set commodity strategies aligned with brand evolution and business needs.
* Share best practices, provide creative and technical guidance.
* Mentor and coach team members.
* Manage Interior and Exterior Commodity Design Managers to achieve strategy outcomes.
Key Performance Indicators
* Develop and execute future-focused material strategies for interior and exterior commodities.
* Deliver projects into programs across brands.
* Foster collaboration and co-creation within and outside the organization.
* Monitor employee engagement and sustainability targets.

What You’ll Need
* Proven ability to establish and resource a new Commodity Strategy Materiality team.
* Strong network-building skills within Creative and broader JLR teams, representing the discipline externally.
* Experience representing JLR at external events and research partnerships.
* Ability to identify and lead collaborations with internal and external partners for commodities.
* Experience leading vehicle line material strategies, benchmarking, and supplier collaboration.
* Set strategic direction with Vehicle Design Strategy and teams; communicate strategies visually and verbally.
* Creative capability and pragmatic design thinking for concept development and strategy execution.
