Post Title: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Simulation and Clinical Skills
SBU/Department: School of Health, Medicine and Life science, Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Wellbeing.

FTE: 1fte (working 37 hours per week) - part-time and job share will be considered
Duration of Contract: Fixed term for 3 years
Salary: Lecturer UH7 £38,784pa to £46,049pa pro rata by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Senior Lecturer UH8 £46,049pa to £58,225pa pro rata by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 35 days pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: College Lane Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield

Main duties & responsibilities
You will support simulated practice learning in line with the NMC Standards of Proficiency (2018) and Standards for Simulated Practice learning (2023). As part of the simulation and clinical skills team, you will contribute to the delivery of clinical skills and simulation teaching across the nursing curriculum. This includes the design, planning and facilitation of skills teaching, simulation scenarios, simulated practice learning and practical.

Skills and experience needed
Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a registered nurse is essential, along with a sound knowledge of the NMC Standards of Proficiency (2018) and the Standards for Simulated Practice Learning (2023), and an understanding of how these relate to simulation and clinical skills teaching.

Applicants must have experience in a range of clinical skills in acute and/or community settings, together with evidence of teaching experience. You will have an ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, you will be expected to demonstrate knowledge in simulation based teaching method and have experience of facilitating groups or workshops. You will have knowledge of simulation technology and debriefing theory

Qualifications required
You must be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and be educated with an undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline. A recognised teaching qualification is essential for appointment, or willingness to undertake a course to gain a teaching qualification.

For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, you will be required to hold a Postgraduate qualification, i.e. PG Diploma, Masters in a relevant field or significant experience. Evidence of continuing professional development in simulation based education is desirable.
