Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, enthusiastic and highly specialised Cardiac Physiologist/Clinical Scientist to lead and develop our CRM and Invasive service here at UHCW Trust.
UHCW is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, providing world‑class innovation and research in all aspects of cardiology. The post holder will report to the Head of Cardiac Investigations Department and be responsible for managing a team of Cardiac Physiologists, as well as supporting the training needs of junior physiologists and specialist registrars.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Responsibilities
* Work independently as a highly specialist practitioner across the range of CRM devices and invasive procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
* Actively contribute to service developments and expansion.
* Manage a team of Cardiac Physiologists, participate in appraisals, and work to achieve agreed set objectives.
* Ensure relevant accreditation is maintained for self and team.
* Provide operational management support to the DCI manager/Chief Clinical Physiologist for the specified area within Cardiac Investigations.
* Ensure all procedures and data produced meet required standards and are documented in accordance with operational procedures and national guidelines.
* Work across all sites as required, managing workload for the designated clinical area, ensuring effective workforce planning, maximised capacity, and robust service delivery.
* Ensure diagnostic tests are performed in accordance with protocols and diagnostic reports are accurate and produced in a timely manner.
* Actively contribute to service developments, taking part in audits, capacity and demand planning, and supporting business case developments.
* Implement CP‑led services to drive efficiencies and meet capacity needs.
* Engage in further training as required for professional development, service provision, and clinical governance.
* Manage financial budget, ensure adequate stock levels of consumables, and maintain effective utilisation of resources.
* Support the Cardiology Operational Management Team in developing and adhering to protocols and procedure guidelines, ensuring compliance with Trust operational requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential – Experience working independently as a band 7 specialist practitioner in CRM and Cath lab procedures and techniques.
Desirable – Experience with CP‑led services implementation (details in supporting documents).
