If you are looking for a new opportunity to support patients across the Lake District, South Lakes and Lancashire, UHMBT has a position for you. A permanent vacancy has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to support patients living with Parkinson's Disease for 22.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will preferably have at least one years experience at band 6 (or equivalent), leadership experience and experience in caring for patients with Parkinson's Disease, with insight and knowledge of the condition. Depending on knowledge and experience, the post is a development post, commencing at band 6 and developing to band 7 on completion of relevant training against specified outcomes. Full support, including a structured induction period, will be given to help the post holder meet the requirements of the role. Although predominantly based at RLI, there will be a requirement to travel cross bay.
Responsibilities
* Act as a clinical nurse specialist. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised programmes of evidence-based care; provide specialist advice to patients, carers/relatives, and the multi-disciplinary team on Parkinson's Disease.
* Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to develop/improve services and quality of care delivered across the health economy.
* Act as an expert in nursing and take a lead role in advancing the development of nursing practice.
* Develop and implement comprehensive information, education and support for patients and their carers/relatives, including running a nurse-led clinic for patients with Parkinson's Disease, in conjunction with the lead clinician, medical team and divisional senior nurse.
* Lead the development of clinical services following national and local guidance including NICE.
About Us
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and RLI offer a range of General Hospital services with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. WGH provides General Hospital services along with an Urgent Treatment Centre to address non-life-threatening conditions. All three main hospitals offer planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day-case and inpatient surgery, with additional local outreach services and diagnostics across Morecambe Bay.

Person Specification
Essential
* Experience and insight into Parkinson's Disease
* 1st level registered nurse (UK NMC)
* Evidence of management and leadership experience
* Current knowledge and experience of caring for patients with conditions related to the specialty
* Evidence of clinical competence and credibility in the specialty and relevant post-registration qualification experience
* Evidence of mentoring, assessing, teaching and developing staff
