This role is based within a specialist Alternative Provision (AP) in Preston, supporting children and young people who have been excluded from or are unable to attend mainstream education. Many of the students you will work with have experienced significant childhood trauma and exhibit challenging behaviours. This is a "temp-to-perm" opportunity; the school is looking for a dedicated professional to join them long-term, with a view to moving onto a permanent contract. Why this role? Competitive Pay: Earn between £95 - £125 per day (based on experience). Specialist Training: Access Tradewind's award-winning CPD, including Trauma-Informed Practice and De-escalation techniques.Your Responsibilities: Support: Work across the classroom to help students engage with tailored learning activities. Mentor: Act as a stable, positive adult role model for children who may lack consistency elsewhere. De-escalate: Use trauma-informed strategies to manage outbursts and help students regulate their emotions. Collaborate: Work alongside a specialist team of teachers and therapists to monitor student well-being.What you'll need: Resilience: The ability to remain calm and professional when faced with verbal or physical aggression. Empathy: A deep understanding that "behaviour is communication" and a passion for supporting those with trauma. Experience: Backgrounds in SEN, youth work, sports coaching, or residential care are highly encouraged.
