Purpose of Role
The Specialist Risk Group is seeking to hire a Vice President, Legal & Compliance to support the growing SRG business in Asia Pacific, establishing sound governance frameworks and facilitating alignment with the wider SRG Group.
The role involves exercising expert Compliance and Legal knowledge in the insurance and intermediary fields in order to drive the development and implementation of the Compliance and Legal frameworks, respond to regulatory requests, support the business units and being involved in Compliance, Legal and Risk Management related projects and activities. The role will work closely with the APAC and Group functions.

You are a detail-oriented compliance and legal professional with a proven ability to navigate regulatory landscapes and deliver practical solutions. Your expertise in commercial and insurance law, core Compliance areas (eg. Economic Sanctions, AML, Anti-Financial Crime) and regulatory frameworks will allow you to be a trusted advisor to stakeholders and senior management. You thrive in a collaborative environment, are solution-driven with strong initiative, and possess a proactive attitude towards improving business practices.
Key Accountabilities
The key responsibilities for this role are:
* You will be expected to contribute to the establishment, refinement and/or implementation of the Company’s Compliance and Risk frameworks (eg Data Privacy, AML and Economic Sanctions frameworks) addressing local regulatory requirements in the context of the business environment and overseeing the satisfaction of policy requirements.
* You will be expected to assess regulatory developments and respond to regulatory queries whilst ensuring stakeholders are updated of developments.
* You will be expected to provide legal advice on commercial, insurance and regulatory matters and review commercial contracts.
* You will be expected to complete Compliance monitoring and Risk Assessments.
* You will be expected to support Compliance projects and Legal reviews.
* You will be expected to provide practical advice to the business on regulatory issues.
* You will be expected to oversee the integration and/or set up of the governance frameworks (including Compliance) for acquisitions and new entities.
* You will be expected to stay informed about MAS requirements and how they affect the business.
Qualifications
Experience:
* 5-7 years’ experience in Compliance and Legal in the Singapore insurance market.
* Proven experience in Commercial Law, Insurance Law, Insurance Intermediary management, Data Privacy, AML and Economic Sanctions.
* Experience in reviewing and drafting commercial contracts.
* Experience in developing and implementing governance policies and frameworks.
* Experience in Risk and Compliance reporting and risk assessments.
* Experience in assessing regulatory developments and implementing the necessary requirements.
* Experience in explaining regulatory requirements concisely to stakeholders.
* Familiarity with MAS regulatory requirements.
