Occupational Therapist

We have an exciting opportunity for a 10 month Fixed Term/Secondment to work as part of the team on our Acute Stroke Unit at Ipswich Hospital, as part of the Stroke / Neuro Therapy Team. The post is for a full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist to cover a maternity leave period.
The successful candidate would need to have had prior acute experience working in this clinical field, and be confident in conducting initial neurological assessments, cognitive assessments, mood screens and discharge planning.
We are a busy, efficient and supportive team, with senior support available, and comply to the standard SSNAP metrics. Working across 7 days, we are part of the much broader Integrated Therapies Department, and on occasions are required to cross - cover to support equality of access to therapy.
Main duties of the job
* To complete competency framework to enable participation in the yearly Band 6 OT rotation scheme.
* Deliver a high standard OT service in designated clinical areas.
* Manage a defined complex caseload under the management of the Team Leader, using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan and evaluate OT interventions, ensuring compliance with HCPC, RCOT, CQC and Trust clinical and quality standards.
* To ensure as far as is reasonably practical the safety of the patients in your care.
* To supervise and assist in the development of junior OTs, non-qualified staff and students on placement.
* To undertake audit of both clinical practice and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
* To be flexible in working in a 7 day service with extended hours in specific settings.

Qualifications
* BSc / MSc Occupational Therapy
* HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist
* Validated post registration courses
* Non-clinical courses
* Student educator course

Experience
* Experience of multi-disciplinary working
* Comprehensive range of junior rotations with experience of complex caseload management.
* Experience of facilitating discharges from the acute setting and/or managing a caseload of patients within the community
* In-service training and reflective learningSupervision of students in any environment
Knowledge
* Broad knowledge of: Respiratory, Neurology, Elderly and Trauma and Orthopaedic Conditions and their management.
* Principles and practices of rehabilitation / reablement
