Children and Family Health Devon are advertising for a 0.72 WTE 12-month maternity cover, on either a fixed term contract or an internal secondment, for the Band 8a Operations Lead for our Physical and Sensory Pathway.
You will work together with the clinical and professional leads of the pathway to oversee operational delivery and bring a compassionate approach to lead a hardworking, skilled multidisciplinary staff team.
You will be part of a strong and supportive network of operational managers across CFHD and will play a pivotal role in influencing how we work with partners to deliver joined‑up, needs‑led care. The Leadership model at CFHD ensures you are supported in your leadership and able to drive service quality and development effectively.
This role can be based at any of our locality sites across Devon. A job share would be considered, and more hours may become available during the 12 months.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure provision of high‑quality, safe and responsive community integrated health services to children, young people, parents/carers and professionals across Devon and Torbay according to need.
* Ensure the service is based on best practice and evidence; outcomes focused and audit and routine outcome monitoring used to improve clinical effectiveness and outcomes for children and young people.
* Provide specialist advice and county‑wide system leadership ensuring that CFHD services are delivered in response to local need in partnership with communities and other local services.
* Provide effective collaborative leadership and day‑to‑day operational management of the CFHD service.
* Jointly lead the locality or county pathway comprising professional, clinical and operational leaders.
* Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of evidence‑based clinical pathways through the service including triage, assessment, clinical formulation and care planning, treatment and discharge of children and young people.
* Ensure the service is delivered in partnership with other clinical pathways within CFHD, health specialties and partner organisations across health, education, social care and the voluntary sector.
* Ensure the service is delivered in partnership with children, young people and their parents/carers, ensuring their active participation is facilitated and feedback elicited, considered and acted‑upon.
* Ensure that clinical and non‑clinical risks are managed effectively.
Experience
* Extensive knowledge of the provision of healthcare for children and families within the NHS.
* Understanding of relevant legislation, NHS policy and other national policy relating to children and young people and its implications for children's community healthcare.
* High level knowledge of health presentations in children and adolescents and the theory and practice of clinical interventions within area of specialty.
* Knowledge of evidence‑based practice including NICE guidelines and routine outcome monitoring.
* Knowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk and act accordingly to ensure safety.
* Knowledge of supervision, management and leadership practice, including electronic staff record systems.
* Understanding of the quality, governance and regulatory framework within the NHS.
* Understanding of the complex multi‑agency systems providing health, education and social care for children and young people.
Qualifications
* Professional clinical knowledge acquired through a degree supplemented by a post‑graduate diploma or specialist training, management qualification or equivalent and experience.
* A professional qualification relevant to children's healthcare (e.g., Social Work, Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Psychological Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy).
* Professional registration/accreditation with a recognised body.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
* Ability to drive across Devon.
* To contribute to manager on‑call rota, as required.
* An Enhanced DBS Check will be required for this role.
