Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full‑time Band 5 Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) to join our Anaesthetic Team at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. This post requires a recognised anaesthetic course/module qualification.
We currently have 13 theatres throughout the hospital supporting specialisms such as Orthopaedics, Colorectal, ENT, Urology, Gynaecology and Upper GI.
The successful candidate will join a dedicated, hardworking team and develop skills in both adult and children's perioperative journeys, including maternity care and outlying areas such as MRI and Resus.
The post holder will work collaboratively and co‑operatively with other members of the multi‑disciplinary team, meeting the needs of the patient whilst operating under no direct supervision. Responsibilities include assisting in the management and organisation of clinical and satellite areas, implementing improvements identified by audit or clinical trials, and participating in the education and development of other staff members and students.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence‑based patient care. Clinical expertise is utilised during all phases of the peri‑operative period. Skilled assistance is provided in the surgical care of the patient, and can also be employed in other areas of theatre such as anaesthetics with the recognised qualification, in recovery, and in other satellite areas such as X‑ray and obstetrics.
