A major part of this is delivery of the HVDC links in conjunction with National Grid. These are part of the grid network build required to transport renewable generation from Scotland to England and Wales as the country decarbonises electricity generation and uses its resources to become more energy secure. Current projects are Eastern Green link 1 (EGL1), Eastern Green link 4 (EGL4) and Western Link 2 (WL2). We believe our people are our greatest asset. What you’ll be doing As Project Management Office (PMO) Lead, you’ll lead the PMO team for Western Link 2 and act as a subject matter expert (SME). This will include setting up the team, agreeing the standards, policies and processes and assurance for the delivery of PMO services across the HVDC portfolio. Within this role, you will drive growth, manage workforce and align Project Control development activities across the PMO. This position is expected to have 4 direct reports and 5 indirect reports with management of teams in various project locations across the UK - frequent travel within UK will be required. Key responsibilities include: Leading and managing the SPT HVDC PMO team, including recruitment, deployment, training and development, and performance management. Working alongside our JV colleagues to develop and maintain PMO people requirements to deliver throughout the portfolio lifecycle. Leverage best practices and innovation to positively influence delivery of projects Oversee all PMO capabilities; namely, Planning & Scheduling, Governance, Performance & Reporting, Risk management, Baseline & Change management and Document management. Working alongside our JV colleagues accountable for the development and implementation of Project Control standards, processes, tools and quality requirements across SPT HVDC Projects. Accountability for the implementation and management of portfolio, programme and project governance frameworks. Responsible for management reporting across the HVDC portfolio, programmes and projects, as well as feeding inputs to the annual regulatory reporting process and other exec reports. Attend recurring governance meetings as required representing the PMO team. Drive the adoption of digital tools (e.g., BIM, Power BI, CEMAR, P6 Primavera, etc.) whilst remaining aligned with SPT’s digital transformation strategy. Undertake regular stakeholder engagement activities with portfolio stakeholders. Support the collation of asset data related to SPT HVDC Projects' commissioning activities, ensuring effective data handover and interface with Operations. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the HVDC Portfolio by championing Lessons Learned and introduction of best-in class industry practices. What you’ll bring We’re looking for an individual with a good understanding of major project development and delivery to enable them to design services to fit delivery focused project teams. You will have extensive experience in large-scale, complex infrastructure or energy EPC projects and proven leadership skills with experience of leading multidisciplinary teams and driving collaboration across multiple projects and contractors. As a minimum, you will have: Experience in project/contract management within FIDIC or NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC) frameworks, ideally with a background in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) capital projects. Formal qualification in project management (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent) or significant, demonstrable experience in project management disciplines. Proven ability to manage and influence both internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, to achieve project objectives and resolve challenges effectively. Experience of applying project and contract management digital tools e.g. BIM, Power BI, CEMAR, P6 Primavera, ACC, Strong knowledge of contractual processes and governance, with experience in managing complex contract requirements. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present and negotiate with clarity and confidence. Demonstrated experience in decision-making and problem-solving, with the ability to analyse complex scenarios and propose actionable solutions. Resilience and adaptability to operate effectively in dynamic and high-pressure environments.
