Our client is looking for a highly skilled Reinsurance Contracts & Wording Specialist to take ownership of contract wording across the full deal lifecycle—from initial submission through to final execution. About the Role
As a key subject matter expert, you will lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of reinsurance contracts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and intent alignment throughout. You’ll work closely with brokers, legal teams, technical accounting, and analytics professionals to ensure contracts are not only well-written, but operationally sound and claims-ready.
You’ll also play a central role in enhancing contract certainty, supporting global claims processes, and contributing to the continuous improvement of wording standards and clause libraries.
Key Responsibilities
* Draft, negotiate, and refine a wide range of reinsurance agreements, including quota share, excess of loss, aggregate, stop loss, and facultative contracts
* Produce and review slips, I&L agreements, clauses, endorsements, and supporting documentation with precision and commercial awareness
* Embed contract wording early in the placement lifecycle to reduce friction and accelerate deal closure
* Support and, where required, lead claims processes including notification, investigation, negotiation, and settlement
* Collaborate cross-functionally with brokers, legal teams, technical accounting, and analytics to ensure alignment between contract language and operational realities
* Interpret complex policy language, resolve contract issues, and establish best practices across teams
* Contribute to and enhance clause libraries, driving continuous improvement in contract clarity and defensibility
About You
You are a detail-oriented specialist with a deep understanding of reinsurance structures and contracts. You bring both technical excellence and a collaborative mindset, enabling you to navigate complex negotiations and deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure.
Qualifications & Experience
* 5+ years’ experience in reinsurance contract drafting
* Proven experience handling complex (re)insurance claims
* Background within a broker, MGA, carrier, or reinsurer environment

* Strong understanding of how contract language impacts claims, accounting, and operations
* Advanced knowledge of contract interpretation and clause structuring
* Ability to identify inconsistencies across placement documentation

* Familiarity with common market forms and documentation practices
* Strong awareness of legal and regulatory frameworks across jurisdictions
* Ability to manage multiple concurrent documentation streams independently
