This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established and growing engineering and fabrication business. The company specialises in bespoke machinery builds and steelwork projects, offering a varied and technically engaging workload. This is the first dedicated Estimator position within the business, providing ownership of the estimating function, working closely with sales and senior leadership, and genuinely influencing how this area develops moving forward. Job Description
As an Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting the business by producing accurate and competitive costings for a variety of engineering and fabrication projects. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who is confident working independently and can hit the ground running.
Daily responsibilities
* Preparing detailed estimates for steelwork and machinery builds
* Calculating costs for materials such as steel, bearings, and labour time
* Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings to support pricing
* Liaising with suppliers to obtain quotes and ensure cost accuracy
* Occasionally visiting suppliers or sites when required
* Working closely with the sales team to support project pricing and delivery
This Estimator role is predominantly office-based, working alongside a close-knit team, with full-time hours preferred.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience working as an Estimator within an engineering or fabrication environment
* Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings
* Solid understanding of materials, machining, and fabrication processes
* Confidence in pricing jobs, including labour and material costs
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Strong communication skills to liaise with suppliers and internal teams
* A full UK driving licence is highly desirable
