As a result, we would like to stay connected with you via this expression of interest for any Healthcare Assistant vacancies in our Dorset region now and over the next 6 months.
Our Healthcare Assistants work as part of a multidisciplinary and multiagency team providing holistic, person-centred, end-of-life care to patients and those important to them, undertaking a broad range of care activities as delegated by a Registered Nurse through a documented plan of care.
As well as a week-long induction, including an introduction to palliative care, you will also be assigned a ‘Buddy’ for the first six months in role. You can also study a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Care at Bournemouth College. This is a fantastic opportunity to ‘learn while you earn’ with us!
Our Days service, multi visit service provide care to people at the end of life. delivering care on a 1:1 basis to support patients and families with palliative diagnosis in their own homes. There are a variety of hours available in this exciting developing service including the following permanent contracts.

How will I make a difference?
You'll be required to carry out a range of care duties including helping patients meet their hygiene needs, monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications, keeping detailed records and emotional support to the patient and their families/most important people. No day is the same, but it will include such purposeful work as:

2. Holding honest, well-informed conversations focused on what matters to the person and those important to them.
3. Holistic assessment, care planning and supporting with care needs.
4. Symptom management, maintaining comfort and wellbeing at the end of life.
5. Supporting people to develop an advanced care planning statement that makes their choices and wishes clear to others.
6. Supporting significant others to plan for and cope with loss, grief and bereavement.
7. Striving for excellence through quality improvement, practice development and innovation.

18. Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, aligned with AFC BAND 2 £22,383 pro rata per annum plus enhancements.

20. 41% x your basic salary per hour paid for Saturdays & weekday night duty (8pm to 6am)
21. 83% x your basic salary per hour paid for Sundays and Public Bank Holidays

What do I need?
22. Previous experience in a similar care role and a real interest in offering exceptional end of life care.
23. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with a diverse range of people.
24. The willingness to work alone overnight – after initial training.
25. Good IT skills with an openness to learning our systems and processes.
26. A clean driving licence and use of a private car. Though you will have access to a ‘pool’ car for daytime shifts.
27. Valid right to work in the UK is essential.
