As a Data Centre HVAP Technician, you will be a key guardian of electrical safety and operational continuity. Working closely with the Building Engineering Supervisor and Engineering Shift Leader, you will take ownership of high-voltage operations, planned maintenance, and incident response across critical systems. This is a continental shift role, offering autonomy, variety, and exposure to cutting-edge, mission-critical engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Critical Engineering & Operations
Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across electrical and building systems in line with SLAs
Act as the site HV Authorised Person, carrying out safe switching, isolations, and control of high-risk activities
Prepare, follow, and review switching schedules, SOPs, and EOPs in accordance with Safe Systems of Work
Respond rapidly to BMS alarms and unplanned events, diagnosing faults and restoring services with minimal downtime
Safety, Compliance & Control
Manage the Permit to Work system, ensuring all authorisations, documentation, and controls are in place
Prepare, review, and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Maintain evaporative cooling and domestic water systems in compliance with L8 regulations
Supervise subcontractors, ensuring all work is delivered safely, compliantly, and to specification
Operational Support & Reporting
Support incident management during faults, outages, and emergency situations
Ensure availability of critical spares and materials
Complete accurate maintenance records and reports using REALM
Build strong working relationships with colleagues and client representatives
Maintain a safe, professional working environment and deliver excellent customer service
Development & Continuous Improvement
Actively develop technical capability through ongoing training and professional development
Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and pride in maintaining high operational standards
Essential Requirements
Current HV Authorisation
Up-to-date Wiring Regulations certification
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
Emergency First Aid at Work certification
Proven experience managing faults or incidents in a mission-critical or business-critical environment
Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation related to maintenance activities
Excellent communication skills with a professional, confident approach
High attention to detail with strong numeracy and literacy skills
Self-motivated, reliable, and committed to safe systems of work
Able to work independently or as part of a team under pressure
Physically capable of accessing plant areas, including vertical access equipment
Flexible approach to continental shift patterns
Desirable
Manual Handling certification
PASMA and IPAF
Knowledge of integrated systems (Fire, PMS, BMS)
Strong sense of accountability and operational ownership
