KM227843 – Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry

4 days ago – Be among the first 25 applicants

If you are even considering a change give us a call to discuss the post. As a result of a redesign of services we have a vacancy for a permanent Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry for 40 hours per week (10 Programmed Activities). Candidates unable to work whole time for personal reasons will be eligible to be considered for the post and, if appointed, an appropriately amended Job Description will be agreed.

This post is based at Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin, a modern District General Hospital with a range of specialties and diagnostic facilities. One of the attractions of working in Moray is a tradition of close working with colleagues from General Practice and the Local Authority. Since April 2016 this has been formalised as an Integrated Joint Board. The post is to provide Consultant input to the east Moray catchment area which includes a large swathe of rural Speyside, coastal villages and a sector of Elgin City.

The Royal Burgh of Elgin thrives as a centre of administration, education, tourism and trade with agricultural, service and textile industries. Situated in Scotland’s Castle and Whisky country, the area offers a wide range of recreational activities such as golf, fishing, hill walking, surfing, canoeing, cycling, horse riding and winter sports. This is an opportunity to live and work in a beautiful part of Scotland that offers a great quality of life and has good transport links with the rest of the UK.

Responsibilities

* Provide Consultant input to the east Moray catchment area, including rural Speyside, coastal villages and Elgin City.
* Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
* Register with the Continuing Professional Development Programme of the Royal College of Psychiatrists; NHS Grampian will fund all costs.
* Participate in research and maintain close links with the University of Aberdeen’s Mental Health and Psychology departments.
* Contribute to audit and other elements of clinical governance.
* Engage in annual appraisal towards revalidation and develop a detailed Job Plan with the successful candidate at the time of appointment, tailored to service needs and the candidate’s experience, skills and interests.

Qualifications

* Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
* CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post once CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration is awarded.
* Applicants with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
* Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post). For more information visit www.gmc-uk.org.
