Fishtek Ltd, a member of RSK Group Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Site Operative to join our small site team with the installation and construction of the fish passes, eel passes, screens and habitat improvement works that we deliver. This permanent, full-time position will be based from Fishtek’s purpose-built office, in Dartington, South Devon, which offers excellent facilities and a super work / life balance. It should however be noted that a significant amount of working away within the UK and staying at site should be expected.
Fishtek Ltd provides high quality civil engineering and fisheries consultancy services across the UK, Ireland, SE Asia, and West Africa. We are composed of a team of Civil, Structural and Mechanical Engineers, fisheries biologists and environmental scientists and site operatives engaging with a wider network of specialists across the river environment. We also have a small installations team who deliver the installation of our specialist fish and eel passage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Necessary work to set-up a small site prior to work starting (including establishment of access points and set up of welfare)
* Installation of small cofferdams, using sand-bags, dumpy bags or framing and boards where necessary
* Work on site to install eel passes and fish passes. This would typically include the use of hand tools and where necessary small machines. Adequate training will be provided if required
* Assistance with mixing of concrete, mortar and other site materials, where required
* General client and stakeholder liaison
Person Specification
* Preferably experience working in the water industry
* First Aid training, CSCS card, CITB Site Safety + (or similar qualification)
* Experience working on the construction of small to medium civil construction projects, ideally in the water environment. This should include the use of a wide-range of hand tools
* Excellent inter-personal skills and effective ability to liaise with team-members, clients and external stakeholders
* Reasonable computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
