The Role
We are seeking a talented and creative Bioinformatician with a passion for using computational advances to improve every step of the antibody drug discovery process.
This will involve leading the analysis of high-throughput antibody sequence data and antigen proteomics data to uncover novel therapeutic antibodies and disease pathways. Once candidates are identified, data-driven target validation, and translational bioinformatics will be applied to progress these antibodies towards the clinic. The role will also involve platform development to ensure we innovate and incorporate technological advances.
The Principal Bioinformatician is a team player who can work across multiple areas in the company, delivering computational and biological expertise, technical rigour, and an inquisitive mindset to discover the best therapies for patients.
Responsibilities
• Discovering novel antibodies and therapeutic targets through analysis of antibody and antigen sequence datasets
• Validating emerging targets using multi-omics datasets and data-driven target validation techniques
• Contributing to experimental design, and performing data analysis to help elucidate the biological function of our antibody drug candidates
• Building strong scientific cases around your findings, and presenting these to the wider company to inform strategic decisions
• Contribution to platform development through exploratory research and methods development
• Leading new projects and engaging in long-term strategic planning
• Keeping current on new discoveries, methodologies and approaches that might enhance Alchemab's platform
Essential
• A PhD (or equivalent experience) in Immunology, Bioinformatics, or similar discipline, and significant antibody drug discovery industry experience.
• Mastery in integrating and analysing omics data sets (including immune repertoire) and deriving biological insight from them.
• Evidence of contribution to and influence of scientific strategy.
• Demonstrated leadership skills to guide a team of bioinformaticians and collaborate effectively with biologists, clinicians, and other stakeholders on interdisciplinary projects.
• Ability to effectively adapt and prioritise workloads in a fast-changing environment.
• Self-motivated, with ability and desire to take ownership of core bioinformatic operations.
• An ambition to work with the Alchemab team to build a transformative company.
Desirable
• Experience in the development and application of machine learning models.
• Experience in a range of statistical analysis techniques.
• Experience in antibody or protein structural modelling and antibody structure-function relationship.
