This role sits within the IT Department and reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager. It is offered as a permanent position to strengthen The Wine Society’s security posture and ensure we are appropriately resourced to deal with the increasing complexity and volume of cyber threats.
The role will be based in Stevenage with some remote work available (3 days on-site in Stevenage, 2 days remote).
This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week.
The IT Security Engineer will play a critical role in enhancing The Wine Society’s cybersecurity resilience by architecting secure systems, implementing protective technologies, and proactively defending against threats. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, the engineer will collaborate closely with infrastructure and support teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of systems, projects, and third-party services.
This hands-on role involves designing and maintaining security solutions, managing vulnerability remediation and leading incident response efforts. The engineer will also be responsible for configuring and optimizing security tools, developing automation scripts, and contributing to security architecture decisions. Additionally, the role supports awareness initiatives and the creation of technical playbooks and response procedures
