Location: Romney Marsh Funeral Directors, New Romney
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: From £33,000.00 per annum
Why This Role Matters
As a Senior Funeral Director you will guide team performance, development and operational leadership to support the Cluster Manager in achieving business objectives. You will ensure compliance, client satisfaction and staff excellence, fostering a culture of empathy, professionalism and continuous improvement.
The Role
A Senior Funeral Director leads front‑of‑house operations and is responsible for compassionate, high‑quality care for families and exceptional service delivery. In addition to the duties of a Funeral Director you will provide direct line management to Funeral Service Arrangers and other Funeral Directors. You will own operations, people, client satisfaction and local marketing initiatives, helping the brand succeed as a trusted presence in the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Build empathetic relationships with families, supporting them through the whole funeral journey.
* Ensure all funeral arrangements respect client wishes.
* Oversee the complete delivery of funeral services from planning to execution.
* Provide day‑to‑day line management of Funeral Service Arrangers and Funeral Directors, including regular 1:1s, performance reviews and training support.
* Ensure compliance with operational standards and procedures within the Funeral and Crematoria divisions.
* Foster a positive, professional team culture that reflects company values.
* Support the Cluster Manager in overseeing branch performance, audits and compliance processes.
* Identify service gaps and recommend improvements.
* Provide compassionate support to families beyond regular working hours as needed.

* Is digitally savvy and comfortable using Microsoft Office and scheduling tools.
Desirable Experience
* Background in leading, mentoring, and motivating a team to maintain high service standards.
* Understanding of funeral or service‑based industries.
* Understanding of operational efficiency, service offerings and financial considerations within the funeral industry.
