About the role
Jennifer Sweeney, Head of Commercial Optimisation, is recruiting for a Commercial Optimisation Lead to join the Waitrose & Partners Commercial Team. This role initially focuses on a strategic project to upgrade legacy pricing and promotions management across the Waitrose estate, enabling new capabilities to drive profitability.
* Contract Type: 1 permanent position
* Location: Bracknell, hybrid working (2-3 days in the office per week)
* Salary range: £75,700 - £121,000
* Partnership Level: 5
* Interviews: virtual, week commencing 19th May
Key responsibilities
You will lead the project, managing system, process, and personnel transitions with a cross-functional team. You should have the technical and operational expertise to translate business needs into effective solutions, ensuring a positive user experience. Collaborating with architecture and SME teams, you will evaluate options and recommend strategies for implementing new pricing and promotion capabilities, aligned with other ongoing projects.
Essential skills/experience
* Experience with pricing and promotions solutions
* Oracle pricing and promotions systems experience
* Background in FMCG commercial or transformation roles
* Change management and implementation experience, especially in retail environments
* Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills
Desirable skills/experience
* Experience implementing pricing and promotions solutions in grocery retail
* Knowledge of Waitrose commercial teams, processes, and culture
* Skills in communication and engaging diverse audiences
* Experience managing transformation portfolios and governance forums
* Ability to guide decision-making with minimal disruption
* Proven ability to work cross-functionally at senior levels and build relationships
* Proactive, curious, and collaborative working style
* Capacity to handle complex issues and knowledge of Waitrose systems
