The Role
You must be a full registered medical practitioner with the GMC with a license to practice. A minimum of four years full time or equivalent experience post-qualification with two years full time or equivalent in training in obstetrics and gynaecology is required. MRCOG or equivalent is not essential but desirable.
Obstetrics and Gynaecology services in NHS Borders includes a labour suite with 5 labour rooms and just under 1000 deliveries per year. Gynaecology patients are admitted to two wards shared with the surgical team. Outpatient clinics take place in the Borders General Hospital but also at peripheral sites within Scottish Borders. Facilities at the BGH provide a high standard of both diagnostic and interventional radiology support including easy access to Nuclear Medicine, Spiral CT and MRI scanning.
Your role would involve labour ward, gynaecological and antenatal outpatient and theatre sessions in addition to participation in the middle grade/trainee resident out of hours rota (1:6). There will be opportunity for development of a special interest and dedicated time for this is included in the job plan.
