Overview
This is a new post working as part of the MDT within the complications of excess weight (CEW) clinic within the paediatric service. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide a high quality, evidence based up to date nutrition and dietetic service to the CEW service in paediatrics requiring a specialist level of knowledge, skills, and experience. This will be delivered under the guidance of the NNUH hub service and operate as a spoke. The clinic runs once a fortnight on a Tuesday and the expectation is for your hours to be worked on site at Colchester Hospital. Responsibilities
* To provide the paediatric dietetic service to the CEW service using specialist skills and knowledge in the assessment and management of childhood obesity.
* To interpret a wide range of medical and biochemical data in order to make clinical decisions.
* To advise medical and other health care workers on the appropriate dietetic management of children in the CEW clinic.
* To undertake nutritional assessments, analyse dietary intake and calculate nutritional requirements considering age, medical, social and cultural factors.
* To be competent to undertake accurate measurements and interpretation of the results to assess a child’s nutritional status. This may include the use of growth charts, skin fold thickness, calculation height velocity and BMI/Height for weight).
