This vacancy is for an NVQ2 level Dispenser to join an experienced team of Dispensers, Pharmacy Technicians, and Clinical Pharmacists to dispense medication to patients in the practice.
Main duties of the role
* Dispense medications as directed by GPs and prescribing nurses, ensuring accuracy in labelling of drug name, strength, quantity, and directions for use.
* Produce FP10 repeat medication prescriptions as directed by GPs and prescribing nurses.
* Keep accurate patient records and oversee all administration within the dispensary.
* Adhere to strict confidentiality when handling medical records and other information pertaining to patients and staff.
* Produce, order, and make up dressings requests from District Nurses, residential and nursing homes.
* Work in line with surgery SOPs.

* Ensure all dispensed medications are correct and include all relevant information for the patient; check any uncertainty with the authorising GP or dispensing nurse.
* Collect prescription charges and ensure all relevant paperwork, including the declaration on the reverse of the FP10, is signed by the patient.
* Record and bank all financial transactions within the dispensary.
* Dispense dosette boxes to patients.
* Adhere to practice policies for controlled drugs, providing a second check on all medication as issued.
* Maintain stock levels within the dispensary and reorder when necessary.
* Check expiry dates on medications and ensure proper storage conditions are observed.
* Accept deliveries of medication and forward invoices to the Dispensary Manager.
* Control stock levels effectively, ensuring sufficient stock for all practice needs while minimizing wastage.
* Familiarize thoroughly with the clinical computer system to record relevant patient information and resolve any problems.
* Safely dispose of returned, incorrect, or out-of-date medications.
* Reorder stationery and other non-medical supplies as needed.
* Issue repeat prescriptions according to the agreed time-scale and directions of the GP or dispensing nurse.

* Order appliances, check for duplicates, and research new items on EMIS before requesting.
* Order dressings and appliances per surgery formulary for district nurses, nursing homes, and residential homes.
* Distribute arriving orders appropriately.
* Maintain clean, safe work surfaces and equipment.
* Maintain a hazard-free environment, aware of COSHH regulations.
* Suggest and develop initiatives to improve the dispensary.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A-C in English and Maths
* Qualified to NVQ2 or equivalent in Dispensing
Experience
* Experience working in Primary Care
* Knowledge of System One clinical system
