Senior Bid Writer Permanent Salary +car package + benefits package Preston My client is a leading civil engineering main contractor working across highways, structures, water and energy sector civils projects, ranging in value from £1m to £15m. Due securing places on several high value civils frameworks, they are increasing their work winning team with a Senior Bid Writer. As a Senior Bid Writer you will be responsible to lead the coordination and preparation of high-quality PQQ and tender submissions, combining strong bid writing capability with light bid management responsibilities.The role ensures tenders are well planned, compliant, persuasive and submitted on time, while supporting the Preconstruction team in managing multiple short-duration tenders efficiently.This position acts as the Bid Lead for smaller tenders, coordinating contributors while producing high-quality written responses. This position would offer the opportunity to further develop and progress within the business as the civil team grows. Key Responsibilities- (Process Leadership)Act as Bid Lead for allocated tenders, managing the process from opportunity approval to submission.Responsibilities include:• Producing a bid programme and submission plan• Organising bid kick-off meetings• Allocating responsibilities for bid inputs• Coordinating contributions from estimators, planners and operational staff• Tracking progress against deadlines• Managing tender clarifications• Ensuring compliance with client requirements• Assembling and submitting final tender documentationThe role ensures bids progress efficiently through the internal Lean Tender Process.Bid Writing & Content Development• Write clear, persuasive responses to PQQs, tenders and framework submissions• Translate technical information into structured, client-focused responses• Develop methodology responses, project approaches and value proposals• Review and improve contributions from technical team members• Edit and proofread submissions to ensure clarity and consistency• Ensure responses align with identified win themes• Liaise with operational teams, estimators, planners and commercial staff to gather technical inputs• Extract knowledge from subject matter experts and convert it into scoring-focused responses• Gather project data and evidence to support tender responses• Research client priorities and project context where requiredKey Skills & Knowledge• Strong bid writing experience• Experience coordinating tender submissions• Construction or civil engineering sector experience desirable• Ability to analyse tender questions and scoring criteria• Skilled at extracting technical knowledge from subjectTo apply please email your CV to or contact me on.
