We are currently looking for a Commercial Account Handler to join the established and welcoming broking team of Thompson Insurance (part of Brown & Brown) in Solihull.
Solihull is one of Brown & Brown’s many growing retail insurance broker locations with a strong record of providing support and success for all who join them.
The position involves servicing client accounts (SME) within the renewals lifecycle process, including renewal administration, insurer presentations, premium negotiations, adjustments, and client reports. Experience as an insurance Account Handler is required, along with good customer service, negotiation skills, broking, and market awareness.
This is a long-term opportunity suitable for a Broker/Account Handler with good cross-class commercial insurance knowledge seeking the next step or wider responsibilities.
The day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Managing, growing, and taking full responsibility for client accounts and policies
2. Generating revenue and providing professional, efficient service, promoting suitable products in line with customer needs, ensuring FCA compliance
3. Analyzing client risks and offering appropriate products and solutions for uninsured risks
4. Managing premium payments, finance agreements, and credit control
5. Managing aged debt effectively
6. Preparing market submissions and policy presentations
7. Negotiating policy terms, conditions, premiums, and income with insurers and clients
8. Reviewing market results and making suitable insurer and product recommendations
9. Delivering excellent customer service and retention, complying with FCA rules and internal policies
10. Proposing ideas to clients to improve sales performance
11. Maintaining regular contact with existing clients to meet their insurance needs
12. Maximizing business opportunities with existing and potential clients
13. Securing cross-selling opportunities and referrals
14. Providing quotations for all classes of general insurance, offering relevant advice
15. Taking instructions from new clients, ensuring proper cover, paperwork, premium collection, and record-keeping
16. Negotiating and presenting to insurers for optimal client cover

Your experience:
