Key Responsibilities
1. Assisting fee earners with a caseload of public law children matters, including care proceedings, supervision orders, emergency protection orders, and adoption-related applications
2. Supporting cases funded by legal aid, including assisting with Legal Aid Agency applications and compliance
3. Drafting correspondence, statements, court applications, and other legal documents
4. Preparing court bundles and trial documentation in accordance with court directions
5. Liaising with clients, counsel, local authorities, experts, and court staff
6. Attending client meetings, conferences with counsel, and hearings where appropriate, taking detailed notes
7. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date file records in line with regulatory and legal aid requirements
8. Providing general administrative and case management support to the team.
Requirements
9. Previous experience in family law, ideally within public law children work
10. Familiarity with care proceedings and Legal Aid Agency processes is highly desirable
11. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
12. Excellent communication skills and a sensitive, professional approach when dealing with vulnerable clients
13. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
14. Good IT skills, including experience with case management systems
15. A genuine interest in pursuing a career in family law, particularly publicly funded wor
