Job Title: Group HR Advisor
Reporting to: Head of HR
Responsible For: HR Admins & HR Assistant will have a dotted line to the HR Advisor
Salary: £34,000-£37,000 with car allowance
Location of Role: Home based with 3 days a week at least travelling to sites across the UK
Hours of work: 40 hours per week: 08:30 – 17:00 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Job Purpose:
To contribute to the overall success of the HR strategy in delivering a proactive and customer focused HR service across the Cobalt Group by providing effective support, guidance and advice to managers and employees on a wide variety of HR matters such as employee relations, policies and processes, recruitment and delivery of key projects.
Role & Responsibilities
* Provide high quality HR advice and guidance directly to managers to facilitate the early resolution of difficult, complex or sensitive employee relations issues, ensuring the risks associated with such cases are effectively managed
* Advise and coach managers on the application and interpretation of HR policies and procedures in accordance with current and proposed employment legislation and local arrangements, to ensure consistency, accuracy and best practice
* Support the wider HR team in implementing and embedding new strategies and initiatives across the organisation
* Support the management of complex employee cases relating to disciplinary, grievance and sickness absence. This includes providing advice to managers on policies and procedures, and legislation, liaising with Occupational Health, supporting formal investigations and hearings
* Build good working relationships with all line managers to better understand their needs and provide appropriate HR related support
* Ensure the timely and satisfactory resolution of employee relation issues by maintaining effective relationships with employees' representatives
* Manage sickness absence in collaboration with managers, managing redeployment where appropriate, assisting employees back to work and working with managers to reduce sickness absence across the organisation
* Provide updates on key changes to policies/processes/new initiatives and trends identified in ER reporting
* Actively contribute to the development and implementation of new policies, procedures and practices in line with legislation, current best practice and the Cobalt Group's requirement
* Support on discrete operational projects
* Oversee recruitment
* Undertake continuing professional development including in participating in performance reviews and attending training as/when required
* Work in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedures and guidelines both internal and external
* Maintain accurate and up to date records and reports and provide written and verbal reports as required

What we're looking for:
* CIPD Level 5 (Obtained or working towards)
* Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes
* Strong analytical and interpretive skills
* Experience of working in a HR Department in either a HR officer or HR Advisor role
* Experience of interpreting policies, procedures and situations to identify pragmatic solutions/recommendations
* Experience of advising/supporting managers on a range of employee relation matters bringing them to an appropriate solution
* Experience of dealing with matters confidentially and sensitively with a sound knowledge of GDPR
* Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and best practice
* Working knowledge of TUPE and redundancy processes
