General Practice Assistant (GPA) / Rosedean House Surgery
Part-time: 30 hours per week (full-time equivalent 40 hours per week)

About The Role
As a General Practice Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting GPs, nurses, and the wider practice team. You’ll help prepare patients for consultations, carry out basic clinical tasks, manage clinical correspondence, and ensure patients receive a smooth, efficient, and compassionate service. You’ll be patient-facing, organised, and confident using IT systems, with training and support provided where required.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
* Preparing patients by taking basic observations (blood pressure, pulse, weight)
* Performing ECGs and urine dip tests
* Supporting with wound care, dressings, and immunisations
* Explaining procedures and treatment plans to patients
* Arranging follow-up appointments and managing test results
* Liaising with hospitals and external services on behalf of clinicians
* Potential involvement in phlebotomy (subject to training and competence)
Administrative Duties
* Processing and coding clinical correspondence accurately
* Maintaining patient records using EMIS / SystmOne
* Managing patient queries via phone, email, and in person
* Booking appointments, referrals, and follow-ups
* Sorting clinical post and preparing documentation for GP sign-off
* Ensuring consulting rooms are stocked, clean, and equipment sterilised
