Barrett Steel Limited is looking for an Apprentice Maintenance Engineer to complete a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship. The role supports the engineering requirements of the organization, focusing on mechanical and electrical aspects of manufacturing equipment and facility services.
Role & Responsibilities:
* Support all mechanical and electrical engineering aspects of manufacturing equipment and facility services (planned & reactive).
* Perform routine maintenance, fault finding, prevention, and repair of equipment and services.
* Assist in managing essential spare parts to ensure availability and cost-effectiveness.
* Develop processes, recommend improvements, and support asset care initiatives to enhance manufacturing performance.
* Support equipment failure analysis and suggest cost-effective improvements to reduce failure rates.
* Implement PPM schedules and operating procedures.
* Develop operator procedures and assist in training to carry out basic maintenance, supporting TPM initiatives.
* Work with machinery such as shot blasters, saws, presses, lasers, drive shafts, section saws, band saws, CNC machinery, and machine tools.
* Mentor and support apprentices, sharing best practices.

Things to Consider:
Initially, you will attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre full-time for a block of study, returning to work one Friday per month. Afterward, you'll attend one day a week for knowledge study, with four days in the workplace.
The AMRC Training Centre may close applications early.

* GCSE English Language C or 4 and above
* GCSE Maths C or 4 and above
Applicants must complete assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre and go through an employer recruitment process.
