GIS Data Technician – Drive a Greener Future with the @One Alliance
Location: Peterborough / Hybrid
Contract: 1 year fixed term contract

We’re the @one Alliance – a ground-breaking collaboration between Anglian Water and seven industry-leading partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO. Together, we deliver over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.
As we prepare for AMP8, our most ambitious period yet, we’ll be delivering an even broader range of innovative and environmentally-driven infrastructure projects – from urban drainage to nature-based solutions like constructed wetlands.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the @one Digital Team, where you’ll collaborate across the Alliance and digital community to drive innovation and efficiency through cutting-edge digital technologies. You’ll play a key role in maintaining our GIS platform and data, working closely with both internal users and external suppliers to deliver exceptional service. As part of a dynamic team, you’ll gain hands-on experience in digital transformation—from spotting emerging technologies to embedding them into everyday business practices. Your contributions will help shape the Alliance’s digital strategy and support its mission to lead the industry in collaborative, efficient delivery.
What you’ll be doing:
Regularly update, maintain, and cleanse GIS datasets to ensure high data quality and support business-critical activities.
Create maps, layouts, and visualizations to aid decision-making and communicate insights effectively.
Identify and integrate new internal and external datasets to enhance GIS capabilities across the Alliance.
Develop and improve GIS data maintenance processes and seek efficiencies in data management workflows.
Maintain and update GIS systems and applications, coordinating with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure optimal performance and user access.
Provide GIS user support by managing data requests, creating support materials, and communicating updates to end users.
Assist in GIS analytics tasks, tracking system usage, and supporting the digital strategy through data-driven insights.
Support application development and innovation by contributing to design, testing, and roll-out of new GIS tools, and researching emerging technologies.
What you’ll bring:
Experience in using ESRI ArcGIS products, in particular ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro.
‘Degree in geography, science, or related field (other degrees also considered), with modules / experience in GIS’
Experience in using various GIS raster and vector data types.
Interest in new and emerging technologies, with a vision of how these are to be delivered in practice.
Team Working, capable of working across multi-discipline teams including partner and IS.
Good communication and written skills.
