Cann Bridge School is a vibrant, inclusive special school dedicated to providing an inspiring, safe, and welcoming environment for our pupils. We are looking for a reliable and practical School Caretaker to join our team and play a vital role in maintaining our school site.
As School Caretaker, you will be the heartbeat of the school’s facilities, ensuring our buildings, grounds, and equipment are safe, clean, and fully operational. From day-to-day maintenance to supporting events and statutory compliance, your work will directly contribute to the wellbeing and success of our pupils and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out routine and reactive maintenance, minor repairs, and improvements across the school site.
Supervise contractors and cleaning staff to ensure high standards and safe working practices.
Perform Health & Safety checks, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and pool safety (training provided).
Act as a keyholder, providing site security, opening/closing buildings, and responding to alarms.
Support school events, lettings, and off-site activities, including setting up rooms and assisting with the school minibus.
Maintain tools, equipment, and school facilities to a consistently high standard.
Assist with statutory compliance routines, record-keeping, and general upkeep of the site.
What We’re Looking For:
A practical, hands-on individual with a “can-do” attitude.
Reliable, proactive, and committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
Basic skills in DIY, painting, plumbing, grounds maintenance, or repairs are desirable (training provided where necessary).
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and support a team.
Full UK driving licence desirable.
