ROLE DESCRIPTION
HARBOUR MASTER – BECCLES QUAY
Role: Harbour Master at Beccles Quay
Responsible to: Deputy Town Clerk
Job Purpose: To provide cover for the Harbour Masters at Beccles Quay to manage the day-to-day service delivery
Working pattern: 1 day per week (usually Monday) throughout the year, plus extra days in summer (June to August). Additional days will also be required throughout the year to provide cover for absence.
Working hours: 9 hours per day (8am to 5pm) April to September, 6 hours per day October, 4 hours per day (9am to 1pm) November to March.
Pay: £15 per hour.
Main Duties:
1. To coordinate the safe passage and mooring of vessels within the Quay complex and to maintain orderly and safe boating conditions.
1. To provide excellent customer service to all users of the Quay. This will include assisting all customers who have queries or complaints or who require information, in a polite, friendly and helpful manner.
2. To collect mooring fees and other revenue as required, and to complete accounting records using the quay's online management system.
3. Maintain accurate records of mooring bookings and of annual and residential moorings.
4. To assist with incident management and to liaise with external agencies and Emergency Services when necessary.
5. To monitor the site to identify any deficiencies and to rectify these where possible and to promptly report those that cannot be immediately rectified.
6. Maintain a professional attitude towards work and ensure operational procedures are always adhered to.
7. Remain vigilant to health and safety risks on the Quay complex and to take necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of all users of the Quay.
8. Undertake such other related duties as may be allocated from time to time.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 25 per week
