Job Title: School Counsellor
Location: Manchester / Wythenshawe / North West
Salary: £24,500–£29,500
Contract: Full-time / Part-time considered
Role Purpose
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Counsellor to support children and young people within a specialist education setting.
The successful candidate will provide school-based counselling to learners with SEMH, trauma, anxiety, autism, school avoidance and complex emotional needs, helping improve wellbeing, emotional regulation and school engagement.
This is an excellent opportunity for a therapist passionate about supporting young people in a SEND / alternative provision environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver 1:1 counselling and therapeutic support sessions to learners.
* Support children and young people with anxiety, trauma, bereavement, emotional regulation and school engagement.
* Maintain accurate clinical notes, safeguarding records and risk documentation.
* Work collaboratively with pastoral, safeguarding and inclusion teams.
* Contribute to wellbeing plans and appropriate referrals/signposting.
* Participate in clinical supervision and ongoing CPD.
* Maintain professional boundaries and ethical practice.
Requirements
* Qualified Counsellor / Psychotherapist.
* Membership with BACP, UKCP, or equivalent preferred.
* Experience supporting children and young people (CYP).
* Experience in school, SEND, SEMH or trauma-informed settings highly desirable.
* Strong safeguarding awareness and understanding of confidentiality boundaries.
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).
