Role Overview
The Exams Officer will lead the planning, administration, and delivery of all internal and external examinations. This is a critical operational role requiring exceptional organisation, attention to detail, and compliance with examination board regulations.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing entries for GCSE, A Level, and vocational qualifications
* Coordinating examination timetables and seating arrangements
* Ensuring full compliance with JCQ and awarding body regulations
* Recruiting, training, and scheduling invigilators
* Preparing and securely storing examination materials
* Managing access arrangements in partnership with the SEN team
* Overseeing mock examination cycles
* Coordinating exam-day logistics and handling incidents professionally
* Managing results days and post-results services
* Producing detailed examination reports for senior leaders and governors
* Maintaining accurate candidate records on the school MIS
The Exams Officer must be able to work calmly under pressure during peak exam seasons and ensure that all procedures are followed with precision and integrity.
Exams & Data Team Information
The Exams Officer works closely with the Data Manager, Deputy Headteacher (Curriculum), and Heads of Department. The team uses secure digital platforms to manage exam entries and data reporting. The environment is structured, deadline-driven, and highly collaborative.
Training and ongoing professional development in exam regulations and compliance are provided.
Candidate Requirements
* Strong administrative experience (school-based exams experience desirable)
