We are seeking an individual interested in working in the recycling and environmental sustainability industry. This position is responsible for ensuring goods are transported safely and efficiently, in accordance with company procedures. The candidate must be flexible and willing to travel, potentially staying away from home for up to 4 nights per week. Based in Alfreton, the successful candidate will be part of a team and work under the supervision of a knowledgeable and supportive Transport Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform daily functions as requested by your line manager.
2. Ensure deliveries are made accurately and efficiently.
3. Complete all required documentation accurately and in compliance with legislation.
4. Attend relevant training to remain fully equipped to perform your role and support continuous improvement.
5. Report any accidents or damage to equipment or machinery.
6. Maintain excellent service levels, providing a first-class service to all customers.
7. Ensure the security of goods carried is maintained at the highest level.
8. Take on projects as required and see them through to successful completion.
9. Positively promote Sims to employees, customers, suppliers, and externally.
10. Perform safety checks on vehicles before leaving the Service Centre and take appropriate actions if necessary.
11. Inform relevant managers of non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
12. Ensure compliance with all transport procedures throughout operations.
13. Perform other duties as reasonably required by the company.
14. Adhere to all company policies related to the Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety, and Community standards.
Applicants must have a clean HGV Licence Class 1, Digital Tachograph card, and full driver CPC entitlement. Previous HGV driving experience is essential; bulk material driving experience is desirable. The candidate should have strong logistical and geographical knowledge, good writing skills, flexibility, and willingness to travel. The role may require staying away from home for up to 4 nights per week.
