Job Title: Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist\nLocation: Gloucestershire - Countywide (Acute and Community)\nSalary: £27 p/h\nContract Type: Contract – 4 months.\nWorking Pattern: Full time\nStart Date: 21/07/2025\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a committed and skilled Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist.\n\nThe role would require Specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment to adults in Gloucestershire. This could include patients with acquired communication, voice and swallowing disorders, within an acute medical setting, community hospital, as well as a patient’s own home or care home.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Clinical Assessment and Intervention: Deliver timely and effective assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for service users presenting with a wide range of communication and/or swallowing difficulties.\n\n * Caseload Management: Independently manage a defined caseload while prioritizing safety, complexity, and service delivery targets.\n\n * Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Liaise with medical, nursing, therapy, and social care colleagues to ensure holistic and coordinated care.\n\n * Training and Education: Provide training, support, and education to families, carers, teaching staff, and other professionals involved in the client’s care.\n\n * Supervision and Leadership: Support and mentor Band 5 therapists, assistants, and students. Participate in clinical supervision and contribute to team meetings and service development initiatives.\n\n * Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and professional records in accordance with legal, professional, and organizational guidelines.\n\nAbout the Service\n\nThe Trust provides mental and social healthcare services, and specialist NHS services for people with learning disabilities to the population of Gloucestershire, together with physical community health and social care services within Gloucestershire.\n\nThe following responsibilities are associated with the role:\n\n * Involvement in the Speech and language therapy strategy development and implementation\n\n * Involvement in Speech and language therapy practice development and quality improvement\n\n * Contribute to Speech and language therapy workforce development, education, students\n\n * Participation in Speech and language therapy research, audit and evaluation\n\n * Health promotion, Making Every Contact Count (MECC)\n\nRequirements\n\nEssential:\n\n * Recognised Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists degree level qualification\n\n * Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)\n\n * Member of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)\n\n * Post Graduate Dysphagia Training\n\n * Experience in managing patients with communication and swallowing difficulties as a result of acquired disorders\n\n * Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and with other professionals\n\n * Excellent verbal and written communication skills\n\n * Experience working in a multidisciplinary or multi-agency setting
