We are currently looking for enthusiastic, passionate and motivated people who want to make a difference to the safety and wellbeing of the residents of York, building positive relationships and helping individuals achieve their outcomes.

Our principles/what do we do?

York Adult Social Care supports adults, families and informal carers who live in the city to live an enjoyable life as independently as possible. Strengths-based practice underpins what we do and we're motivated by empowering people to find solutions that work for them, striving to listen and enable, rather than direct and prescribe. Our approach focuses on the positive attributes of a person's life and of neighbourhoods, recognising the capacity, skills, knowledge and potential that individuals and communities possess.

Our team listens to and supports people to identify their outcomes, access personal and practical advice, information and support within their local communities and neighbourhoods to help them achieve their goals. It is an exciting time to join us!

Who are we looking for?

This is an excellent opportunity to specialise in safeguarding adults for a qualified and registered Social Worker with experience of working with adults at risk. You will be an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual, ready for the challenge of supporting and safeguarding adults at risk from abuse and neglect. You will have a sound knowledge of the Care Act (2014) and experience of undertaking safeguarding enquiries, safety plans and risk assessments. You will have a collaborative approach to practice, and experience of promoting partnership working with key agencies.

This is an exciting opportunity to further your skills and expertise in a specialist area of Social Work, within a highly committed and supportive team. If you are looking to gain valuable experience to support career progression.

You will have a strong desire to support the Local Authority’s objectives in ensuring it meets its duties under the Care Act, and importantly, to enable people in our community to live safely, free from abuse and neglect.

You will be supported by regular and high-quality supervision and peer/leader support daily, alongside development opportunities.

If you are dynamic, motivated, committed and passionate Social worker with knowledge and experience of working in social care. We would love to hear from you.

The Safeguarding team are committed to supporting the social work profession.

This role is suitable as a job share opportunity.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.

City of York Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful candidate to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
