Our client are continuing to expand and we are currently seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their day shift team. This is a great opportunity to secure a stable role with excellent development prospects in a supportive working environment. You will help ensure the smooth running of our transport operation for a major client and recognised brand.
Role Responsibilities:
Plan daily fleet maintenance to ensure efficiently, balancing compliance, costs, resources, and customer needs.
Keep planning systems accurate and up to date with all operational changes.
Manage changes to operational requirements and understand their impact on cost and resources.
Produce clear short-term and forward-looking fleet plans
Identify potential issues early and put practical solutions in place to maintain service levels.
Support vehicle servicing schedules, MOTs, documentation, and compliance activities.
Maintain a good working knowledge of UK and European transport rules and best practice.
Work with Fleet and Compliance Managers to arrange Irish fleet repatriation for MOT when needed.
Identify and report cost or resourcing issues and provide cost-effective solutions.
Work with an awareness of budgets, margins, and profit and loss.
Work closely with Transport Operations to ensure smooth job delivery.
Liaise with Finance and Operations teams to confirm plans are workable and affordable.
Communicate clearly with operational teams, and internal stakeholders.
Key Skills
Previous experience working within a third-party haulage or logistics environment.
Strong, up-to-date knowledge of UK and European driver compliance rules and transport regulations.
Proven ability to problem-solve with a positive, proactive, "can-do" attitude.
Experience working in a cost-driven organisation with practical knowledge of budgeting, and cost control
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with an excellent working knowledge of MS Excel.
High attention to detail with a structured and accurate approach to work.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective internal and external relationships.
GCSE Maths at Grade C / Level 4 or above.
Experience working with numerical, financial, and operational performance data.
Knowledge of UK, European, and international geography.
Previous experience supporting fleet servicing schedules, MOT planning, and vehicle documentation.
