Job overview
Cambridge L is an elderly care ward with 26 beds. The ward is made up of 4 bays and 3 side rooms. We work closely with the medical team, therapy team and relatives to ensure the patient is provided with holistic optimal care to ensure dignity and patient choice.
The nursing team are experienced in elderly care and understand the challenges this can bring.
We are specialised in providing care and treatment of patients with the aim of a prompt safe discharge.
We strive to ensure that patients’ safety at all times, using enhanced observations and risk assessments to identify patients’ individual needs and therefore the best possible care.
We will be looking for good knowledge base, Great communication skills, the ability to manage and delegate as well as step up to any challenges or needs that arise.

Main duties of the job
* To support and assist the ward manager to provide continuing responsibility for the ward.
* Ensure staff competence for clinical practice procedures, using trust competency framework, including appropriate underpinning knowledge and practical skill.
* To support and assist the Ward Manager to monitor performance and manage the nursing staff in areas of responsibility, ensuring all employment records are locally maintained and current in the absence of the ward manager.
* To support and assist the Ward Manager to ensure that all staff update mandatory training in line with Trust guidelines.
* Maintain accurate staff records regarding Annual leave, sickness and absence.
* Represent the ward at Trust wide forums and inter agency meetings deputising for the Ward Manger when required.
* Ensure the safe and effective use of all medical devices
* Actively take part in and support Directorate initiatives and issues.
* Use clinical skills and knowledge to provide specialist advice and support to peer group staff, patients and relatives.
* Act as a clinical expert and positive role model for all staff.

* Degree in Nursing Evidence of a career in acute care nursing which demonstrates a wide knowledge within the field
