About Your Team:

With over 200 years of powering UK homes and businesses, we are now focused on making the UK greener and more energy-efficient, using innovative technologies like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV chargers to help customers reduce their carbon footprint.
Role Overview:
We are excited to introduce a new opportunity to join British Gas Energy as a Social Worker within our Vulnerable Customer Centre of Excellence. This is a vital role supporting some of the most at-risk individuals across the UK, helping us provide tailored support and resources to vulnerable customers during critical times.
Your responsibilities include:
1. Identifying vulnerable customers facing financial hardship, health issues, or other vulnerabilities and developing appropriate support outcomes.
2. Providing direct support and resources, such as access to financial aid, energy efficiency advice, and other assistance programs.
3. Assisting customers in crisis situations, including health, mental health, disconnection threats, or energy affordability issues, by coordinating emergency interventions.
4. Educating and training frontline teams and customers about their rights, available support, and energy-saving practices.
5. Collaborating industry-wide to develop and implement programs supporting vulnerable customers, ensuring accessibility and effectiveness.
6. Addressing mental health challenges related to financial or energy insecurity, connecting customers with appropriate mental health services.
Candidate Profile:
We seek an experienced, compassionate, and solutions-focused Social Worker with a proven track record of delivering high-quality social work. You should demonstrate strong empathy, effective communication skills, and confidence in handling sensitive conversations. Digital proficiency is essential for navigating internal systems securely and accurately.
Applicants should embody our values, possess a passion for excellent customer service, and be capable of promoting our products and services to help customers stay safe and independent at home. Experience in the energy or banking sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.
