Interim Expense Analyst – Challenger Bank
Contract: 6 months
Rate: Up to £450 per day (Outside IR35)
Location: UK-based, Remote
A high-growth challenger bank is seeking a hands-on Interim Expense Analyst to join its lean finance function for an initial six-month contract. Working closely with the Head of FP&A, this role is pivotal in driving visibility and control over expenses, supporting informed decision-making through robust analysis and clear financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with the Head of FP&A to deliver accurate and insightful expense reporting and analysis.
* Build and maintain detailed expense models and forecasts in Excel.
* Produce clear, visual dashboards, graphs, and decks in PowerPoint for senior stakeholders, including board packs.
* Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure data integrity and transparency in expense reporting.
* Identify cost drivers and provide actionable insights to improve efficiency and control.
* Support ad-hoc analysis and presentation requirements in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
Key Requirements
* Around 5–8 years plus experience in expense or financial analysis, ideally within financial services or banking.
* Strong analytical and Excel modelling skills, with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights.
* Confident creating and presenting materials using PowerPoint and Excel at a high standard.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills – able to engage senior leaders effectively.
* A self-starter who thrives in a small, dynamic team and takes ownership of deliverables.
* Comfortable working remotely and managing priorities independently.
