This role seeks a self-motivated candidate to manage engineering projects end-to-end across Thames Water’s operational sites and estate.
We expect you to manage all aspects of each CAPEX project, including initial scoping, tendering, contractor procurement, site setup, health and safety inspections, commissioning, training, and handover to operations.
Please note that the internal job title for this role is ‘Project Engineer’ within the Capital Maintenance Project Team.
What you will be doing as an Engineering Project Manager
1. Manage and deliver a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical, and ICA projects, typically valued between £100,000 and £1 million.
2. Handle multiple live projects while overseeing new projects in scoping and tendering phases.
3. Develop innovative solutions to operational challenges, enhancing site efficiency and value for money.
4. Collaborate with operations teams and contractors to scope, define, and cost solutions that are cost-effective and low-risk.
5. Lead health and safety compliance, conducting monthly audits.
6. Oversee project construction in accordance with internal policies, industry standards, and CDM regulations.
7. Work with delivery partners to ensure timely project completion.
8. Maintain compliance with Asset Standards, British & International Standards, and professional codes.
9. Forecast project finances and report on work progress (VOWD).
10. Draft, review, and approve pre-construction info, project programs, risk assessments, RAMS, and construction phase plans.
11. Oversee commissioning, training, and handover of completed projects.
12. Ensure completion documentation, including test certificates, manuals, safety files, and as-constructed drawings, are prepared and handed over.
Note: A driving license is required as the role involves travel to multiple sites, with a car allowance provided.
Location: Maple Lodge site, covering West London sites.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
What you should bring to the role
* Background in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil preferred).
* Relevant formal qualifications (e.g., BTEC/HND) or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of Clean Water Processing and Wastewater Treatment.
* Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
* Understanding of Health and Safety standards, including CDM (training provided).
* Experience in Construction or Engineering Project Management.
