About the Role
The School of Economics at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China invites applications for two Assistant Professor positions. Emerging scholars are sought who demonstrate outstanding potential in research and teaching, with preference for specialization in Macroeconomics, Microeconomics (applied micro, labor, health, industrial organization, financial economics) or Applied Econometrics (including causal inference, machine learning, program evaluation, data science).
Your Responsibilities
* Lead, plan, develop and conduct individual and/or collaborative research projects.
* Establish a national reputation and disseminate findings through peer‑reviewed publications, conferences and other media.
* Generate income by developing and winning support for innovative research proposals and funding bids; undertake consultancy projects where appropriate.
* Deliver teaching across modules or within a subject area and provide curriculum leadership.
* Design course modules/programmes of study and propose improvements to existing modules.
* Supervise and examine postgraduate, Masters and PhD students.
* Contribute to student recruitment, placement and provide advice.
* Ensure safe conduct of work in compliance with the University Safety Policy.
About You
* Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field completed by appointment start date.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to devise, advise on and manage learning and research programmes.
* Ability to manage resources and an understanding of management processes.
* High analytical capability to facilitate conceptual thinking, innovation and creativity.
* At least 2 years of relevant teaching and research experience in higher education.
* Experience and demonstrated success in delivering teaching within an agreed quality framework.
Benefits and Support
Fixed‑term contract up to 5 years. Salary within the stated range; salary progression beyond this is subject to performance.
