Interim Management Accountant job in Devon
* Interim Management Accountant - NHS (Devon)
* Devon (Predominantly Remote)
* 6-9 Month Contract | Immediate Start
* Day Rate: Competitive (Inside IR35 likely)
Hays are working in partnership with a well-established NHS organisation in the Devon area to recruit an experienced Interim Management Accountant to support the finance team during a busy period of change and transformation.This is a key requirement, and prior NHS experience is essential to ensure you can quickly add value in a complex and regulated environment. Key Responsibilities:
* Preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and detailed commentary
* Supporting budget setting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
* Business partnering with budget holders and operational teams, offering financial insight and challenge
* Assisting with statutory reporting and year-end processes
* Supporting improvements in financial processes, controls, and reporting
* Analysing financial performance and highlighting risks and opportunities
* Ensuring compliance with NHS financial governance and reporting standards
About You:
* Fully or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
* Essential: Proven recent experience working within the NHS
* Strong understanding of NHS finance processes, systems, and reporting requirements
* Demonstrable management accounting and financial analysis experience
* Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with non-finance stakeholders
* Highly organised and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
* Strong Excel skills; familiarity with NHS finance systems (e.g. ESR, Oracle, or equivalent) is desirable
