The Royal International Air Tattoo has been running for over 50 years and is staged in support of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust. The Trust’s vision is to ignite passion for aviation and space, inspiring young minds by empowering them with knowledge, skills, inclusive opportunities, and experiences to pursue careers in aerospace.
Main Duties of the Role
We are seeking a people-oriented leader who inspires confidence, ambition, and purpose. You will lead a small team and should be able to demonstrate:
* Contributing to initiatives and partnerships that support sustainable event delivery and showground content, aligned with RIAT32’s vision.
* Managing and developing the visitor experience across the showground, public enclosures, facilities, and services including visitor information, refuelling stations, entry points, and retail.
* Generating income from secondary B2C sales such as enclosure upgrades, camping, catering, and merchandise.
* Collaborating with the Head of Marketing to develop strategies and plans to maximise secondary spend areas.
* Delivering a sector-leading visitor experience recognized locally, nationally, and internationally.
* Managing the customer experience and overseeing 125 Volunteer CREW members to ensure a world-class service.
* Identifying and developing sustainable new income streams within the RIAT model.
* Building new business relationships to enhance the visitor experience.
* Working with the Senior Leadership Team as part of an ambitious, dedicated team.
* Supporting revenue growth to help the Trust promote the Royal Air Force and inspire young people in air, space, and technology sectors.
* Designing and implementing a 10-year plan for RIAT’s public showground, aligned with our Sustainability Vision and stakeholder needs.

Knowledge
* A customer-centric approach with a successful track record in organizational orientation around customers.
* Proven senior leadership experience (essential)
* Commercial experience in delivering large-scale national events or venues (essential)
